About Us

Specialty Treats was started in January of 2019 when Pat Rowland and Mike Barany partnered up to use spent grains to manufacture hand crafted dog treats. Originally the company was based out of Mike’s home where they have now purchased a Commercial Dough Mixer to mix the natural ingredients and a Commercial Oven to bake the treats faster.
In January of 2024 Specialty Treats started the process of updating their brand to Brewery Dog Treats and brining on new breweries to expand their treat line.

Common Questions

Do the Dog Treats Contain Alcohol?

No, our Brewery Dog Treats do not contain alcohol. They are crafted using spent grains from breweries and other natural, human-grade ingredients, ensuring a safe and enjoyable treat for your furry friend.

How do we make these treats?

Our Brewery Dog Treats are made using a unique process that involves hand-rolling and cutting the treats before twice-baking them to achieve the perfect crunchy texture. These treats are not only delicious but also easy to digest, making them suitable for dogs of all ages, including senior dogs and those with sensitive stomachs.

What is Brewer’s Spent Grain?

Brewer’s spent grain (BSG) is the leftover grain from the brewing process. After the grains have been used to extract sugars, proteins, and nutrients for beer production, the spent grains are left behind. These spent grains are rich in fiber and protein, making them an ideal ingredient for crafting nutritious dog treats.

Are hops used in Brewery Dog Treats?

No, hops are not used in our Brewery Dog Treats. It’s important to note that hops can be dangerous for dogs, causing serious health issues. Our treats are carefully crafted using only spent grains and other safe ingredients to ensure the health and well-being of your pet.

Where does the Flavor come from?

The flavor in our Brewery Dog Treats comes from the spent grains themselves, along with other natural ingredients like bacon, beef broth, pumpkin, and more. These ingredients are combined to create delicious flavors that dogs love, without the use of artificial flavors or additives.

What were spent grains used for in the past?

Spent grains have been used in various ways in the past, including as a food source for farm animals due to their high protein and fiber content. In recent years, there has been a growing trend of using spent grains in human food products, such as bread and snacks, due to their nutritional value and sustainability.
